Jacques Metairie - whose beautiful, colourful pieces remind you of the great expressionist colorists of the 20th century and the impressionists of the 19th century.

Iain Bennett-Hobbs - An Englishman living in the Algarve with an obsession for creating unique art utilising reclaimed wood.

Antje Lankenau - whose studies at the Art Centre of the Ministry of Culture in Abu Dhabi, allowed her to work with artists from many different countries and cultural backgrounds.

Here are some of the events happening throughout the Algarve art community. Aqui estão alguns dos eventos que acontecem em toda a comunidade artística algarvia.

A painting donated by Shelley Foley to the Carvoeiro Cat Charity will be auctioned off during the quiz at Victoria’s Bar in Poco Bareto on Feb 20th.

The quiz starts at 19:00 hour. Put together a team of 4 people and reserve your table. It will be a fun night!

For artists who wish to donate and patrons who wish to join the auction, Buddy's Legacy is a Charity Association which uses donations and fundraisers to help low-income people here in Portugal (and especially the Algarve) to pay their vet's bills, predominantly for dogs, but also a few cats. This is in the name and honour of a much-loved dog Buddy who sadly died before his time. They are looking to have an Anniversary Art Auction at the start of April, as this is the month Buddy died in 2023. Many artists are donating their work to this cause. The founder, Jo Puddle, works tirelessly to support and promote the work of this unique charity. Last year, in their first full year, they fund-raised and donated 21,500 euros to help many animals in need – none of whom would have been saved or treated without this charity’s support. Professional photographer Cesar Barroso has volunteered to conduct a 3 hour Photoshop Basics workshop for a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 15 people. The cost would be 25 Eu per person. I know I will want to attend. Please indicate your interest by e-mailing Shelley Foley at artloversalgarve@gmail.com The time and place will be announced once we have enough interested people.

Sabina Robbins will be in the area from April 28- May 2 and is looking for someone to give her art lessons in watercolor. Please contact me if interested and I will pass the information on to her.
